What is the DVC?
- Provides an opportunity to earn one elective credit toward graduation.
- Volunteering must be completed in the state of Delaware.
- Awards students with a signed Certificate of Completion by the Governor and Secretary of Education.
Who Can Participate?
- Any student in grades 9-12.
- Students can begin the summer before freshman year.
- Students who complete 90 hours of community service outside of a regular school day from an approved organization listed on volunteer.delaware.gov.
Opportunities
- Volunteer openings available at volunteer.delaware.gov/volunteers-ways-to-volunteer.
- Possibility of being nominated for Governor's Youth Volunteer Service Awards.
- Option to apply for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
- Looks great on your resume and college applications.
Getting Started
- Meet with your counselor to discuss participation.
- Register on volunteer.delaware.gov.
- Self-report credit hours for each individual day of volunteer service.
- Consider applying for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award at volunteer.delaware.gov/pvsa.
